Side-lying hip abduction with ankle weight

Lie on your side with hips supported on a foam cushion and upper body supported on your elbow.
Place a weight around the ankle of your top leg.
Bend the knee of your lower leg and straighten the top leg.
When stable, lift the top leg up using the glute muscles to move your leg.
Do not let your trunk rotate.
Hold briefly and then lower back to the starting position.
